Paying just for the Overclock?

Just curious if I may ask, why the Strix over the G1 Gaming? Both are amazing cards but for £70 less the G1 Gaming is better value. Mine sits pretty at 60c< in Witcher 3 in OC mode at 2k+ core.

EDIT: It's actually at 1922Mhz according to MSI not quite 2k

Some come with higher quality components but generally there isn't anything wrong with the stock components. They are all chip lottery and you can be lucky with a cheaper card and unlucky with a more expensive one.

I was considering the Zotac GTX 1070 Amp Extreme until I spied this card.
I want the GPU to be the centrepiece of the of my rig so the right look is very important to me, it's something I'm going to have to live with for the next 5 years or so. This card ticks all the boxes for what I envision my dream PC will look like.

For the sake of 70 quid id also go for the G1. Better uk based support with gigabyte too, i like asus products but their support rep isnt great.

I have always just bought the cheapest ones. Apart from a lightning edition once and all have overclocked quite well compared to the more expensive ones. I had a cheap palit 8800gts 320 once and it overclocked like a weapon.

But then your within a wink and a nudge of a 1080!

No 1080 is close to the G1's price of £430, you can also click one button in Gigabyte Extreme software and match 1080 stock performance and still have silent fans and aftermarket cooler temperatures.

Oh I do love Gigabyte.

Though the Strix is a great card too, it's just identical and kinda crazy that you pay £70 for a prettier looking card and that's it!

I'll add to the ASUS 1070's are too expensive opinion.

At current prices my picks would be:

Palit Super JS: Fantastic cooler extremely quiet (2.5 slot though), high clocks, cheap. <--- Own this one myself, extremely pleased. And I bought it at £419.99!

Zotac AMP Extreme: Loooong 5 year warranty, also great cooler (2.5 slot again, Gibbo likes it), high clocks again.

Gigabyte G1: 3 year warranty but UK based, Gigabyte brand name of course, still high clocks, 2 slot cooler which is still great (but less quiet than the palit and zotac).

The STRIX looks a bit silly in comparison to the price of those 3.

Even Gibbo stated you are better off just buying cheaper ones and clocking them.

I wouldn't buy Asus, they are massively overpriced, if I was to ever buy an Nvidia gpu it would be EVGA or perhaps Inno or Zotac

I was hoping to go EVGA but the Zotac is really shining for me now. Especially with the matching 5 year warrenty now and that EVGAs pricing is high.
