Paypal and linking your bank account - Safe?

Hi,

I am just wondering how safe it is to link your bank account details to a paypal account? I won't be using the Paypal account for buying anything, just recieving some money that I then want transfered into my bank account.

Once I have transfered those funds can I then delete the link to my Bank account details?

I didn't like the idea of it so I have only associated a debit card with my account but then I dont use it that much so it doesn't matter to me. If you were to use it a lot it might make more sense to have the bank account link.

basicly i have had my account linked to paypal for 2 years now, i had £3k on the account. Nothing has been nicked so far. But the 3k are going into an different account soon
