Hi folks,

Not the usual 'Send to Nigeria for £10000000' Scam but...

I recently sold an item on ebay, the winning bidder had (0) feedback, even though I stated NO bidders with ZERO feedback unless they email me first, which he didnt.

Anyway, he paid me

But the email looks like this;

Paypal.jpg

On the left is a normal one I usually get when a Paypal payment comes through, on the right is the one im suspicious of.

I have logged into Paypal and all is on there OK, even says the payer has confirmed address etc

But that yellow banner on the email looks weird, I've never seen it before, has anyone else?

It says "You've received new funds"

When usually it says "Notification of an instant payment..."

Honestly, I don't know how some of you get dressed in the morning.

The money is in your Paypal account. What's to wonder about? Maybe they just changed their e-mail style.

Transfer the cash to your bank account, wait 5 days (or until cash has transferred) - then post item.

Albeit not 100% guaranteed, I'd say it help ensure the safety of the funds.

I sell the odd thing on eBay - I have had both "styles" of notification of money.

If it's in your Paypal account, then don't worry :)

So get in touch with Paypal.

We are not Paypal.

If a thread bothers you so much, then don't post in it. It's that simple.
The OP has asked for a little help on the chance that someone on this (very popular) forum has experienced the same thing, he's not asking you to tie his shoelaces or button his cuffs for him. :)

OP,
I've noticed yellow banners on certain Paypal pages lately too, such as the make a payment pages that you are taken to after you make a purchase on eBay. It's been like it for a couple of weeks for me, but money is coming in and going out ok.
Just for safety's sake I ran various a/v and spyware checks and they didn't come up with anything bad.

been ripped off lately by some royal ****** with a foreign sounding name from london who had 2 feedback. He brought a graphics card from me, payed by paypal [even emailed me about delivery etc], and i now have a reverse charge from paypal meaning he has cancelled the paypal debit off his card

I've noticed recently that Paypal have started using different style pages for logging in when paying stuff - and they're a pale yellow. I'd check with them, to be sure.

Did you send it by recorded delivery to a confirmed address?

And you would be scammed.

Think about it, why did you specify 'no bids from people with zero feedback'?

Everyone has to start somewhere, we all had 0 feedback at the beginning.

It was usually because these people sometimes just dont grasp the principal of ebay, and do not end up paying, but this person, and many others did, so hopefully its all A-OK.

Never been scammed yet, but had plenty of scam e-mails. The deciding factor here is that he checked Paypal and the money was in there. Now just how would a scammer do that, smartypants?

So why specify no bids from 0 feedback if you'll willing to accept bids from people with 0 feedback?

I've found 0 feedback buyers to be some of the best, and high feedback buyers to be the worst, low feedback people are often really keen to get more feedback and so do all they can to make the transaction go well!

I get mails like that from PayPal when people have paid by putting my e mail address straight into PayPal rather than clicking the button through eBay.

If you are unsure though, get it checked out with PayPal.
