On ebay, particularly if selling an expensive item it is best to state in your auction that you will only ship to 'confirmed' addresses, because otherwise you could indeed be screwed over because PayPal won't cover you for fraudulent buyers.

If you do ship to that buyer you are taking quite a big risk.

just be careful, ive been a victim of fraud with ebay from electrical goods before, email the buyer and make him confirm the address is correct,
whats his feedback scores like?

100% feedback, but all are small low value items.

I have got a home telephone number whihc is a 0208 number.

Not eligiable for protection means you get nowt if it goes wrong, and dont go sending it to another address

If its a stolen account or they do a charge back you WILL have to pay PAyPal the money back & I doubt you'll see the lappy again.

If was me I'd not send it Until they get a confirmed Paypal account that is eligable for protection or payed in a more Guarenteed way..

When in doubt DONT

Refund it, its not worth the risk.

Even if you delay sending it I think it can be reclaimed for months possibly.

180 days, its a long time to worry

Took them 2-3 months in my case iirc.

This is what I do on eBay mate...

If selling an item...

1) Recieve payment from buyer into my PayPal account.
2) Transfer money from my PayPal account into my bank account.
3) Wait till funds are in my bank from PayPal (check this via online banking)
4) Post item :)

The buyer may have to wait a few days extra, but atleast you in this case will have your £400 odd :)

I think the flaw with that idea is that you may have the money but PayPal will make your account have a negative balance if the money is removed.

Then I guess it would goto the debt collectors.
