Paypal has limited the acces to my account, saying there's a potential high risk and have asked me to fax them a proof of stock inventory (of the stuff I sell on ebay). The thing is, I sell used clothings/shoes on ebay so how can I proof this to them ? Have already emailed them but usually I'll have to wait 1-2 days for a reply.

Has anyone experienced this before ?

I have never heard of a Paypal request like that before.

Was it addressed to you BY NAME, or to something like "Dear Paypal User", "Dear Valued Member" etc etc???
You didn't click on a link and have to fill out your details or anything did you??

I have my account restricted at the moment and has been for around 4 months now with just over £100 in it. Unless you can provide the proof they want they won't do anything. www.paypalsucks.com is a good place to have a look at. I have made many phone calls and threatened legal action via the small claims courts and they still won't budge. You can get your money out after 180 days when the restriction is lifted if you cannot provide what they ask. Good luck.

Ah fire beat me to it, welcome to the mystery or rather con side of paypal, make sure you visit that site. A friend of mine uses it very regularly and had £10,000 in there, they froze it without good reason so he went through his lawyers and they got it back for him, I bet the legal fees cost him a bit though :/
They keep it otherwise, thats why whenever you get above around 500 ALWAYS send it to your bank.
If they are used clothing (of personal belonging) tell them - did you keep the reciepts? pay by card? (your statements can show this). If you bought them with intention to sell, you must be able to get an invoice?

I've got £360 in my account. The items they want proof of stock inventory are clothes that I bought a couple of years ago, there's no way I could get the reciept back. :(

I'm in the same situation. If you can't provide the things they want you can get your money out, you just have to wait 180 days. Then, I believe, they email you telling you can withdraw the money or have a cheque sent to you. Read the forum on the site I posted above.

same kinda thing has happened to me - they want contact info of my suppliers, even though stuff i sold is just random stuff

im not gona bother - highly unlikely they will remove the limit - luckily i only had like £10 in there.

just waiting to get a new bank account, then gona make new paypal account just to buy stuff with, NEVER to sell with again.

From paypalsucks.com:
With PayPal, your money is deposited into a PayPal Account, which PayPal Fully Controls. Since PayPal is NOT a bank, they do not need to follow federal banking regulations. These regulations are designed to help the "Average Joe" avoid issues like having their bank account frozen for weeks or months with no explanation.

"Who would trust their money with a bank that could do that?"

Sadly, Paypal routinely freezes its customers' accounts for almost anything and without warning. Once an account is frozen, the funds are often held by PayPal for months on end with Absolutely No Recourse for the merchant.
I don't use them anymore either.

I first faxed them invoices and reciepts that's got nothing to do with what they asked for. Then I submitted random tracking number from various companies(royal mail, usps, fedex).

So the moral of the story is that Paypal can be impressed with lots of random figures and emails? Interesting security that!

I think everyone needs to be careful when keeping any more than a token sum of money in Paypal or anything else that isn't a proper bank account.
