Paypal verification - anyone done this before?

I was wondering if anyone here has done paypal verification process before?

I have recieved an email from [email protected] saying that my account was blocked and they require a copy of a passport and utility bill before they can verify my account - I really don't want to send my passport copy to USA and they seem to want a utility bill...which I just don't have yet since im living with the parents...

Has anyone else experienced this problem (getting blocked) when verifying their account?

I would have thought signing to their direct debit mandate (first step for verification) would have been enough to verify me etc...but it seems not.

==> the reason why im asking is because I paid a trader through paypal and they seem to want my account verified before they will release the goods

Thanks for the reply everyone - it does seem a bit scary - but then again - my paypal account is blocked - here is the email as I have received it.

PayPal as a regulated financial services company is required under law
to assess its customers against certain lists of individuals and
entities which have had sanctions imposed against them. PayPal as a

multiple jurisdictions where we do business.

Hmmm....does appear to be legit, happened before.

Ah so the penny has dropped.

I see the list (downloaded from link) and my name is not on it - and there is no way it can be associated with it - and as for the guy in question he gets 30 days to resolve his account and im given 7 lmao...what a farce.
