anybody got weird emails from PayPal sayin that they have monitored unusualy activity?

i know for a fact that i sent money today for an item i won. i have 2 email accounts registered with paypal. email 1 is set as primary and email 2 is not ticked to receive emails.

thing is i got the email sent to my "email 2" account which isnt ticked to receive emails.

the email was from: admin23094478%@reply085256.9653deprt.com

subject was: Message 94533

Notification of Limited Account Access
We are contacting you to remind you that on 14 November our Account Review Team identified some unusual activity in your account. Therefore as a preventive measure we have temporary limited your access to sensitive features.

a link was also provided so that i could 'Update'
any ideas to if this is a hoax?

Ask Paypal?

The last time I use Paypal, you could ask them a question.

Why do the OcUK forums seem an attractive place to post people's "OMG is this an eBay/Paypal scam? (Wipe my bum for me too, please)"?

did either of you really find it necesserry to reply as both your posts have no use to me.

read again! i was asking if people had got strange emails, and yes i am suspicious to the senders address.

it's people like youself who shouldnt be on the internet.

1) look at the address it's from
2) U said yourself you told paypal not to contact u on this address
3) They are asking you to click a link in a mail (never do this)

So go to www.paypal.com log in as usual, see if anything looks amis, does it? no? then there's no problem.

if your ever in doubt again, go to paypal as u would normally (never through a link an email), log in normally and see if anything is wrong.

Then do a google search for the text thats in the email.

I searched for:

"Notification of Limited Account Access" paypal

First result was a phishing/scam report website: http://www.millersmiles.co.uk/report/151

This the confirms it is spam and to be deleted.

Never reply to the email either, just delete it.

Yes it's called spam/phishing, millions of people every day get these, you are most deffinitel not alone.

1. i only recently signed up to paypal in the past few weeks

2. i received the email about 30 minutes after i actually authorised a transaction (for a purchase i made) dont know about you but i found that quite strange

3. i wasnt to know (if you dont know, ASK!) none of you obviously know of that phrase

4. if anything some other people are now more alert (if they havnt already had a email such as the one i received)

5. (and finally) people like the 2nd, 3rd and 5th posters are just a bit ignorant if you ask me, if they feel the need to post, then post something of use! if they are fed up of posting to replys such as my OP, then DONT! no-one is making you reply to them.

When starting a thread, there is a tacit agreement that you will be ripped into if the thread is a silly one. It's all part of the risks of forum usage, I'm afraid! Chin up!

It is quite obviously a phishing scam to most seasoned net users, but if your not sure, it is best to ask. Few things to bear in mind in future if your not sure about this sort of thing:

1) Paypal, eBay or any reputable bank will never send you an email asking you to click a link to verify details.
2) They will also usually address you by your name in any email they send to you.
3) They will send all emails from legitimate addresses eg. “@paypal”, although so will some scammers.
4) Legitimate emails from large organisations will always have perfect spelling and grammar.

no worries Chin is up, but when people start like that its when it gets on my nerves, by logging onto the boards they must feel the need to reply to every post... sorry guys but you DONT! just becasue you have 837 thousand posts doesnt make your e-willy look any bigger neither does it mean you can post comments as above.

put it this way, its your bank account/details, would you not be a bit suspicious/concerned and have questions to ask?

What I said has little to do with how long you have using paypal, its common sense, why would they use that email address?

As for posting something useful...ahem
1) look at the address it's from
2) U said yourself you told paypal not to contact u on this address
3) They are asking you to click a link in a mail (never do this)
