I sold an item on ebay (a hockey stick) for £20 + £5 postage.

I sent this on the 24th via royal mail 1st class, and on the 26th the buyer put in a item not recieved claim via paypal.

She / he said that i hadnt replied to any of their ebay messages (when i had via email) and that she never got the item. Paypal have gone and given them the £25 and due to selling a game today (reason i logged on paypal) i now apparently owe paypal £8 + their charges for refunding the buyer.

Ive tried ringing them and it just rings and rings.

I went on FSA and paypal uk dont exist anymore, all their numbers are no longer genuine, and they moved to what appears to be spain in July. We rang them and it picked up and reffered us to another phone which rang and rang, charging us to do so!

I have full Post Office proof of postage reciepts, but paypal wont let me fax them either.

Whats wierd is that the address is in the name of Oliva Thorne (Trinity halls), the buyer name Helen Thorne, and the email address Will Thorne @ his website. His website redirects to a Doctors in Australia.

Is this a scammer ? At the moment they have recieved £25 off me aswell as the hockey stick! And paypal dont seem to care!

Does anyone know what phone number i can ring that actually works at present for Paypal UK ?

thanks

I have just rang
08707 307 191
And within half a ring I get
"Good Afternoon and Welcome to Paypal . . . . "
Want to borrow my phone?
Are you ringing from a landline? I was . . .

The main reason Paypal are not interested in your posting receipts is because they form no proof of delivery.
All they show is that you have a receipt showing something was sent via Royal Mail on a particular day.

Unfortunately as you haven't used a trackable delivery service there is a very good chance you are going to lose out here.
If you are seling anything for around £20+ make sure you also charge for a service like Royal Mail Special Delivery.
This is a fully trackable service and nobody would be able to pull a scam.
On the unlikely even that the item did go missing via Special Delivery you'd also get the full value of the item back.

I lost a new full face helmet which was sent from an ebayer and thought the guy was taking the p..s until a few months later i sent an exhaust end can again it went West
That Royal mail has a lot to answer for:mad:
oh and have any of you had any success with a claim from them:(

It could well be a scammer. My brother lost £80 after the buyer claimed he never recieved it. It's become very risky selling on Ebay and the fact that sellers can no longer leave negative feedback to buyers just makes it worse.
