Hi Guys

Recently got PB287Q 4k monitor but am seeing some nasty banding issues with gradient colours.

The back ground on steam for instance looks like its stripes rather than a gradient..

Is this purely because im on display port 1.1? surely its not this bad just because of that?

The background of Steam is banded, not a smooth gradient. That is how it is. How does this appear (don't use Firefox)?

Ahh ok

That gradient test shows the same problem.

My old 1080p BenQ monitor shows a smooth transition.
The new Asus shows banding :(

What are your settings in OSD?

Setting used by Tomshardware:

Asus PB287Q Calibration Settings
Splendid Mode: Standard
Brightness 70
Contrast 75
Color Temp User: Red 100, Green 97, Blue 97

I had the PB287Q myself and I had no banding issues.

My settings aren't exactly the same, but very similar. I have lower brightness and contrast.

I also tried it using their settings but still have the same problem :(

Do you run your monitor through display port 1.2?

I ran with 1.2 but I used the higher contrast. Does not lower contrast show more banding? How come you lowered the contrast anyway?

I turned it down because it was too bright haha. Changing it back makes no difference anyways :(

Changed the resolution to 1440p and it goes away. Gradients are fine (changing to 1440p also changed the refresh rate to 60hz).

It appears it is because of display port 1.1 then. My gfx card is quite old - an Radeon 5870

upgrade time! :(
