PC-7B plus info?...fans

Just one more thing... Can you fit the PSU in the normal manner or do you have to remove the back thing?

Just that the 120mm fan in my PSU is an aerocoll turbine with sticks out a little and probably wouldnt fit if it had to slide in ¬_¬

On the PC7se me and Mekrel had to do that with a Tagan modular, it goes in fine on that model through the motherboard bit and back up, see no reason why it would not now.

BUT

I think Lian Li have recessed the back a bit more now for the rear plate so it can accomodate more non-ATX conforming PSUs.

Its annoying as it is the PSU makers that are not following the ATX spec.

This is what I mean

I have never noticed the sound you are talking about, but I have not used the blue LED fans yet.

It is more likely the CFM that the blue LED fans are pushing. With ADDA's I have never noticed it.

the real shame here is that the case looks better from the back!

might have to mount a mirror on the wall behind it ;)
What motherboard do you have in there, MrWhippy? Looks like a mATX one - it's not a Foxconn, is it?

Yewen, yes you do! I want to order a black one as have my new rig setup in my old case at mo and this will be the finishing touch! However the black finish is out of stock at present so am hoping that this will be the newer version when they come in. Will email OcUK today and let you know what response I get. I looked at the Lian Li website which notes the PC 007 as OEM however.

I suspect the silver version is more popular and therefore may be more prone to having the spec temp upgraded if they run out of stock parts. But heres hoping they have had a run on the blacks and x 120mm and blue LEDs for me! :D

yep, it's a Foxconn 6150K8MA-8EKRS. was originally looking for a mATX case for it, but for the money the PC7+ was just too tempting. and i'm not sorry i went with it.

with regard to fitting this motherboard into this case, the only couple of issues i've had are: -

1) there's only one sys_fan connector on the motherboard but two meaty fans in the case. don't think i can live with the sound of 12V 120mm fans long term (and yeah it is a low frequency whoosh i'm talking about which i also think is due to the holes in the guard rather than fan noise per se, not loud but audible and just a little annoying) so i guess i'll be going for a fan controller at some point (or a volt mod).

2) the positioning of the single sys_fan connector on the motherboard is such that the front fan will reach it, but it's a stretch and sits across the PCIe slot. if i wasn't using the onboard graphics, i doubt it'd reach.

these are not major problems though.

oh yeah, wish i'd have fitted the cpu and Freezer 64 Pro to the motherboard before mounting the motherboard into the case. the lack of removable motherboard backplate, combined with the lower PSU bracing rail made it a bit tight trying to get my fat fingers in to clamp the lever fully down. did it in the end though.

Would you be able to plug a Zalman Fan Mate into the Sys_Fan connection and then use a 3 Pin Fan splitter to drive the two case fans, or would that not be a good idea?

hmmm, dunno. worth a look into i guess.
i've started a thread on this motherboard over here (i'll add these comments in), didn't want to drag this thread too far off topic :)

Is the case selent then?

well for me i think the case will be silent when i've finished messing with it.

there was a couple of rattles which i fixed by nipping up the screws around the front fan and hard drive cage.

the hard drive mountings don't have rubber grommets so maybe there's room for improvement, but my drive isn't particularly noisy, so that hasn't been an issue for me.

only thing outstanding is the case fans, but again that'll be down to individual setups. i'll be either volt modding or adding a fan controller i think, to slow them down a bit. i suspect this case will be pretty good temperature wise, so i'd be suprised if it actually needs 2 120mm fans on full blast all the time.

In regards to the hard drive rack like is always mentioned, remember the quality of the case and how much you paid, as it is a budget case, and the lowest currently in Lian Li's lines since the PC50 was discontinued.

It does not usually cause much trouble anyhow, and it is fixable with the elastic band method to isolate the cage, bit of a pain to do but it works if you are after utter silence ;)

An update from Overclockers with regard to the PC 7 plus/ PC007 situation (this is the anodised black finish):

I am unsure when the item will be back in stock at the moment. It is simply a case of waiting and keeping check on the website for it to come in. If the manufacturer has changed their specifications I would have thought our website would have changed also. So I would expect to get the 80 and 120 mm and if 2x120mm do turn up it is a bonus.
