PC About to Die. Spec help needed

Sweet. I'll give it a go. Thanks very much :)

No worries mate. It does boot faster than 7 but I think this is largely because the recovery mode is gone. On 7 you can spam the F8 key to get into safe mode etc. I miss this as I do more troubleshooting on peoples systems than you might do.

As I said there is a free trial, so you can save a little cash for now whilst you collect your thoughts about it. The real bonus is they lifted the stupid RAM restrictions they had on the Windows 7 editions. All the best bud. God forbid you have any problems come build day you know where to find us :)

Pencil me in for a christmas card then ;)

We now have UEFI BIOS on the mobos, basically you can now use the mouse to navigate around and it looks far prettier.

Pop in the BIOS and you'll see what I mean. Set the RAM to use the XMP profile (this sets the best speed and timings for the kit for you) and ensure the Sata mode is ACHI and not IDE (should be default anyway). Set your boot priority for the drives and you are good to go. You can pop back later if you fancy trying the overclocking feature, always setup the rig at stock first.

I wouldn't really call that a bunch more bang for buck.

The HD5450 is awful in comparison to even Intel HD4600 :p

(I had one in my server at one point so I can personally say that it is a terrible piece of cack)

It is bang per buck considering its £50 less, the HD5450 is there because you need some sort of GFX card as there is no IGP on the CPU.

With the £50 saving you can swap out the GFX card to anything £70 such as a 7770GHz edition and that will officially kick the HD4600 into touch:D
