PC and PC2

Hi im thinking about boosting ram on my pc and i think it is 4200 which I need. However while looking i noticed that there was PC-4200 and PC2-4200.

So was just wondering if any of you could tell me the difference between PC-4200 and PC2-4200?

Strictly speaking, PC-4200 is DDR1, whilst PC2-4200 is DDR2. But PC2-4200 is often shortened to PC-4200.

It's very likely that you have PC2-4200. Download CPU-Z and it will tell you which you have.

Yeh it says i have DDR2 which i suspected and i think it is probably the fact that the name has been shortened which has confused me. So in theory any PC-4200 which mentions DDR2 within should work with my system. e.g. like this one on the sales part of the overclockers website

Yip the Corsair PC2-4200 should work without any problems.
