Recently got a new rig, not a thing wrong with it as far as i know!

Came with an SSD and regular 2TB HDD. Decided to install Batman Arkham Knight on the HDD as to not take up almost 60GB of precious SSD space.

Upon opening Arkham Knight in Steam it shows me as "Playing" the game instantly, yet it doesn't load up the .exe and go full screen for around 5-7 minutes. no kidding. Is this due to the sheer enormity of the game? + the fact its on a regular disc drive? Or may i have something wrong with my drive.

Once in the game i get rare stuttering due to loading textures for the City too.

Bad port or not it shouldn't take that long to load the game.
I end up complete it couple months after its release, apart from random crash to desktop it didn't run all that bad for me. I did have it on SSD though.

It is a bad console port.
Which has nothing to do with it's loading times on a HDD.
The game runs perfectly for me these days anyway.

Name, you'll find it loads a lot quicker if you bung it on an SSD. I don't know what DLC you have, nor do I know what ones I have, but my install is around 39GB fwiw.

It only took a minute or two in the beginning but now im over 60% complete its taking so long i start to wonder if there's something wrong on my end.

I've read it can be something to do with the games DENUOVO software that checks your system specs every single time you load the game, I've added the game folder to all my firewall exclusions but it still takes the absolute mick. 10 minutes in and the pre-game Arkham Knight splash screen has appeared. Just another 20 minutes to go then :P

Runs fine for me.

And I know I was in the minority but I was able to complete the game when it came out before they even patched it without any performance issues.

Brute forced it with a Titan X (Maxwell) as GPU and a 2nd Titan X for Physx (as SLI didn't work)

Anyway, as for loading times that is not normal either because I completed new game + mode recently with all the DLC and it loads very quick on an SSD.

Might be an underlying issue with the PC? Maybe the hard drive is in go-slo mode.

Ah crud, its virtually unplayable on the regular hard disk now, im not sure whats happened its just completly deteriorated in performance.

Downloaded Crystaldisk info and its reporting my drive is good temp and 100% healthy.

Tried to copy the game folder over to my SSD and it said estimated time 4 hours - that cant be right surely? what type of HDD is this  unless game files have just gotten that complex these days, i haven't transferred any games over in years.

I have an SSD for the OS and other bits and an HDD for my Steam games so I just booted up Arkham Knight to check it for you as I haven't touched the game in months, My game completion is at 2%, I thought I'd mention that in case it makes a difference and the save loaded within 30 seconds.

I'm running with a 4790k, 8gb's of ddr3 and a Fury Tri-x,
The game is on a 2tb Seagate Barracuda,
I'm running the game @ 1440p via dsr on a 1080p screen, settings where all maxed for amd with AA at x4.

Here's what im currently experiencing while copying my files over to SSD.

This doesn't look right for a brand new drive, can anyone recommend any other HDD checks i can do to make sure my read/write speeds are healthy?at time of posting this the "time remaining" has now gone to more than 1 day.

FYI if you press Alt + Print Screen it'll only capture whatever active window you have e.g. the transfer dialog :p

ATTO disk benchmark is what I'd use

I have it on an SSD and it loads in seconds.

Runs like a dream now it is all patched and fixed, even with all the nvidia stuff turned on.
