Hi,

Ive been having a problem with my pc for a few weeks where it just shuts its self completely off instantly whilst gaming it turns straight back on and no parts of the machine appear to be getting warm.

how can i test if it is the power supply? are there programs to monitor it?

or any other ideas?

Thanks in advance

If your using XP try this out.

right click my computer
goto advance
under startup and recovery
click setting
uncheck the option "Automatically restart"

this will prevent the os from doing auto restart
if it encountered some serious error giving you a
chance to see the actual error or bsod.

Whats your rig? Is it a really dirt cheap power supply?

Might be worth checking all your drivers are upto date.

Also do as above and see if you get any error messages. Could also be RAM. We're going to need more information!

Longish shot, but the CPU could be overheating due to a dodgy cooler / thermal paste. Have you tried checking CPU temps in BIOS as soon as the computer restarts?
