PC Beeping at startup

Hi

Just built my new system

I switched on my pc this morning at it did lots of long beeps but continued to load windows, then stopped and everything seems to be OK. It took me by supprise so I didn't count them.

The display is working fine and can't see any error messages displayed. I was running orthos yesterday for about an hour with no memory problems.

If there was an error would it display a message on screen too if it could?

Would the fact that windows continued loading affect the number of bios error beeps? Could it cut them short or would the bios ensure the correct number of beeps were made?

If it wasn't for the internal speaker (which I nearly didn't fit) i would not know there was a problem

A couple of times there has been a beep at startup like a longish one but not as long as a normal long beep(that i just heard), then the tone goes up for an instant then down again for an instant then the system loads as normal - no errors. I just though that was a normal startup beep but now I'm not sure.

I have just shut down three times and restarted without any beeps at all.

Any advise appreciated as it's all new kit and running out of RMA time. Not got any spare stuff to test it with either.

Just restarted and it went deeeeeeerdideer deeeeeeeeeeer

if you can decipher that. One longish then up in pitch for an instant then back down for an instant (no gaps), then a gap, then one long beep but it's started up fine.

Why is it always me.

It might be the CPU fan fail warning if thats enabled in the BIOS it can send crazy beeps at you when you first turn the PC on because the CPU fan isn't spinning because its temperature controlled/just not started spinning yet.
 
Yes. I thought I'd load failsafe defaults and remembered I'd set that on.

I have also swapped the 2 stick of ram over and re-seated the graphics card.

I'm worried about the long series of beeps though, could that be the fan warning too?

I've done 3 restarts now and I get one really quick minisclue beep when the computer restarts, is that normal? i though it was?

my old asus mobo used to beep at every usb device attached. I rebuilt it about 7 times in one week because of that.... then i checked the manual!!! DOH! Award bios's normally Beeeeeeeeep beepbeep, is gfx card.
