I wasn't sure whether this should go in the Games forum or if it should go in Hardware as I think it is to do with my PC specifications.

I am running the following:
Opteron 165 @ 2.7GHz
2GB of PC3200 RAM
nVidia 8800GTX
Audigy 2

Most games play fine, but UT3 is jerky even with the world and texture details turned down. I am playing at 1280x1024 even though my TFT's native resolution is 1680x1050 as I thought this would help, but it still jerks :(

I have all the latest drivers etc, so it isn't that.

Do you guys think it is my hardware?

I have noticed it jerks a little when I am viewing the whole world (looking into the sky or into the distance)... but if I run around looking at the ground, there aren't much graphics to render.

I will check out this monitoring software to find out what the problem is. It might actually help if I closed programs like Firefox because I am working on an essay at the moment and have around 50 tabs open - the program is taking up over 350mb of RAM.

If you install a cpu/ram/gpu monitor you can see what is being maxed out thus enabling you to determine the limiting factor..

If you go into the sofware section and click on the first post "freeware ultilites" something like that and go to the System Information and Monitoring section you can download a free ware application that will show you the cpu/ram/gpu usage etc whilst running UT3..

Which software would be good?
