PC boot up problems on 26 inch tv

I have a 26 inch Samsung tv and a 9800 GT. Now, when i boot up the pc first time it is usually a black screen. I turn of the pc, try again, and it usually works second or third time. Why do i have to keep doing this? Does anybody have any ideas?

When you say it gives you a black screen on boot, exactly what happens? Are you getting a POST/do you normally? Do your fans spin up? Any noise from the HHD or optical drives?

My dad had something like this recently: usually it was fine, but increasingly it was a black screen, no POST, but the fans spun up. Turned out to be a bad PSU that freaked out at random.

Nope, the fans are the same speed and there is no odd noises. I think it may be something more to do with graphics?
