PC Boot Up Query.

Hi,

I'm finding that my pc sometimes requires more than one or even two attempts to boot up before I'm seeing anything on the screen.

My current spec of what might be related to the cause:

Z77-DH3
GTX980Ti
BeQuiet! 650w modular
Dell S2716DG
Coolermaster HAFX

The monitor is quite new, and although I can't back it up with anything, I just feel that the screen isn't the culprit. I am wondering, however, if it has something to do with the case / start up connection to the motherboard (just occurred to me as I'm writing this).

Any thoughts of where to start first?

Ta. :)

I've had this a few times. It was caused by using a DVI cable. When I switched to DP, the issue went away. I found I needed to unplug the monitor's power source (from the back) and then re-connect it. This would kick it back into life.

Thanks for the info. I recently upgraded my monitor, which now uses a dp connection where as prior to that it was DVI.

Interesting point about the overclock. Mine is currently running at 4.2, but with no change to the voltage as yet. I will definitely look into that. I've found a useful video on the subject to get me started. Cheers, fellas. :)

Hmmm...it would seem that it could be something to do with the monitor power save mode, which apparently is a known issue for this model. Fortunately, it doesn't occur once I've accessed Windows (thank goodness!), though I've read about others having that problem as well - which must a be real pain in the arse. This issue makes it very difficult, if not impossible, to get into the bios at the moment, so as a workaround I enable my second monitor and go from there. I don't think it's a cpu overclock issue, though that was a good suggestion.

Edit: tried dropping the overclock back to stock, but that didn't alter anything. :)
