PC Boots then dies.

My old system is behaving oddly - When you start it up it spurts with life for a few seconds - lights/psu/fans etc all turn on then it dies. Some times it does turn on and other it dosnt at all.

Specs are

AMD 2500+ Barton
Some new asrock board as the old Abit AN7 died
Coolmaster Aero 7
1GB Geil PC3200
9800XT
Generic PSU bought from OCuk Not to long ago

I have checked the insides 2 times now, every thing is connected and the USB headers are not touching so the mobo isnt shorting out.

Any ideas?

My thoughts exactly. Is it a Q-Tec by any chance? Have you got a spare PSU you could try?

My girlfriends familys system does a similar thing. I would put it down to the PSU also, if you can - get hold of another PSU to test this out and eliminate the PSU.

If it was bought recently perhaps you can still return it under warranty.

the psu actually came with a case and was seen as a decent psu for the money with 12v rails etc

but yea i will try another psu
