PC Build advice (based on Titan Envy M DC)

Hi,

I’m new here. I’m going to buy a new desktop and was thinking on the “Titan Envy M DC” with the config bellow.
My problem at the moment is the budget I will have maybe not enough to get this machine, so I wanted to try to find a 2nd (cheaper config) just in case I can’t buy the Titan Envy and ask Overclockers to build it.

If possible can I ask your help/advice for a bit cheaper config with a i7 4790 (non-k), mobo H97 and a nice and silent air cooler, please? (other components will stay the same).

This machine will be for motion design/3d work and a bit of games. I mainly use Cinema 4d and AfterEffects (along other Adobe software).
There will be weeks I will need to leave the computer rendering for 2-4days full cpu or gnu (after effects uses Cuda for speeding up the render. C4d is at the moment 100% cpu power to render).

Maybe in future I will also use a external C4d render engine that use both cpu+gpu (or Gpu only). If that happens, I might want to add a 2nd graphics card to have more Cuda power, but at the moment and next few months, one Gpu (a 770) will be more than enought.
Also a 2nd SSD for cache. Just saying this, because I’m afraid if the power supply will be enough for this extras.

Thanks for the help
Daniel

Titan Envy M DC config:

Case: Corsair Obsidian 350D Micro ATX
Power Supply: Super Flower 550W PSU
CPU: Intel Core i7 4790K Devil's Canyon Haswell Processor overclocked to 4.5GHz
Motherboard: Asus Z97 Gryphon (Socket 1150) DDR3 Micro ATX Motherboard
Cooler: Corsair H100i CPU
RAM: 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2133MHz
HD 1: Samsung 120GB820 Evo
HD 2: Seagate Barracuda2T
GPU: Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 4Gb
Os: Win 8 (is there any reason or bonus to have win 8 pro instead?)

Hi,

If you wanted to ammend the spec of that system, we can do that for you and get back to you with an ammended price if you wish?

*edit* for a home user there arent really any major advantages to having the pro operating system
Chris

Hi,
if you can send me a amended scpec I will appreciate, thanks.
Can you guys propose an equivalent H97 mobo and a good air silent cooler (will be rendering a lot during night)?

Thanks for the help

Hi,
the Alpenfohn K2 mount doom sounds nice. I maybe won´t need to change GPU and PSU fans, my renders will at the moment 70% Cpu only.

Can you tell me if there is any major difference between the Asus mobo and this Msi you suggest? I'm completely out of the game regarding Mboards. Just need one that work stable and well while rendering lots of hours in a row (3years ago had one that started to have a slight bend/deformed in the cpu area, I assumed it was because of heavy render hours. Still, it was working well).

Regarding the GPU, at the moment 2GB are fine for my needs, I was aiming for 4Gb thinking in the future (end of the year might satart using GPU 3D Rendr engine).
GPU 3D renders engine at the moment, as far I have been seeing, are dependent of gpu ram (ex. if I have a scene with more ram usage than the gpu have, won´t render).
Been reading about a new render engine version using CUDA6 and unified gpu+system memory but they don't have a release date.

If I want to add a 2nd GPU in the future , will the PSU be enought (and the mobo)? (no SLI needed in the mobo. It will be for render only)

Thanks for the help.
Regards

Hello,

my main concern with the gpu will be if I start using/loading large amount of high res textures, although not happening at the moment. Starting to think the 2Gb gpu is the way to go for now.
And if I really enter into GPU 3D render for commercial work and need proper power, then invest into something like 780ti or even a Titan, regarding my needs.

About the SLI, I didnt explain well, sorry. I don't need a motherboard with Sli capability, since the gpu render engines I'm looking to use, they "don't like" Sli. This render engine work better and faster without gpu's in Sli mode (and let you have diferent gpu's like a 770 together with a titan for example working at the same time).

So just need a motherboard that can have 2 gpu plugged in (the 1st Msi looks like it can, but need to be sure it handles well/it fits 2).
The PSU maybe better to be already ready for 2 gpu's also, just in case.

Regarding the case, if is to small, dont know if I should already buy a bigger one or stay wiht the 350D and then if the 2nd GPU arrive, buy a new one (at the moment was trying to buy a smaller case). Need to think a bit about it.
Im ok with he new cooler you advise, just looked into a review it seems to have nice temperatures/noise level.

Thanks

Hi,

the case seems nice, but I have the problem that i'm looking for one with 23cm max width and 50cm max height (want to place it in between 2 desks legs and only have that space) can you suggest other one?

Does the MSI H97 G43 will handle well 2 Gpu's (whithout Sli) or still need a Z97 like the MSI Z97M for that?

Sorry all trouble and questions.
At the moment just need to decide witch MB, case and Psu to go and check if the price will rise that much, all the other components will go with i7 4790 / 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 2133MHz / Samsung 120GB820 Evo / Seagate Barracuda2T / Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2Gb / Win 8.

Thanks

Hello,
yes, I'm happy with that, you can send me the quote with those specs.

Forgot to ask, this system still have the 24 months collect and return warranty as the others prebuilds right?

Thanks for the help
