Hi all, my friend is building his 1st PC - keen to see what you think/any recommendations, he's too nervous to post - it's very much for gaming! Top budget is roughly €1,400, thank you!

CPU - AMD Ryzen 9 5950X 3.4 GHz 16-Core Processor - €270

CPU Cooler - Cooler Master MasterLiquid 360L Core ARGB Liquid CPU Cooler - €89

Motherboard - Gigabyte B550 EAGLE WIFI6 ATX AM4 Motherboard - €129

Memory - Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 32 GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4-3600 CL 18 Memory - €92

Storage - Samsung 990 Pro 2 TB M.2 - 2280 PCle 4.0 x4 NVME Solid State Drive - €160

Video Card - Gigabyte GAMING OC Radeon RX 7700 XT 12 GB Video Card - €426

Power Supply - MSI MAG A850GL PCIE5 850 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply - €113

Case - €98

I’d go for a DDR5 platform with a 7600x3d or something. Can’t check prices right now but that might even leave room for a small GPU upgrade.
Investing in the top end of an old socket just means you have to upgrade the entire PC when that CPU runs out of oomph.

that's a terrible build for a 2025 gaming pc
don't tell me that you guys used chatGPT for recommendations lol

With the new prices of DDR4, it isn't worth it to go AM4 anymore.

These are good CPUs for heavy multithreaded work, but for gaming you don't need 16 cores.

I'd look at a 9070 instead.
