I need some assistance from the community on behalf of my brother;

His motherboard died last week on the PC that has served him trustily for approx 8 years, components were all bought back then from OcUK. So, he needs to replace the system with a max of £500 to spend (the £500 budget needs to include O/S).

He has HDDs from his system that can be used. I have also been given a 560Ti GPU from my nephew which should keep him going for 12 months or so until he can get some money together to get a newer GPU (with release of Star Citizen in mind). He games at/monitor native res is 1600 x 900.

The £500 budget needs to include O/S. So basically he is looking for best base system he can get which can utilise the GPU that he’s been given and HDDs with a view to future upgrades.

Thanks in advance for the help :)

I would definitely buy the parts from Overclockers because their service is pretty much second to none, though not the cheapest around are very competitive, but to save yourself £30 which can be put towards maybe a better item in your build, go with Win 7 64 bit pro SP1 Full Version from an MAR (Microsoft Authourised Refurbisher) it cost me £46.00 inc free recorded delivery........

Info:

•Installation disc containing the full 64bit version of Windows 7 with SP1. (Not an upgrade version)
•The software disc is new and has never been installed on any computer
•This unused item came with a PC that has now been decommissioned. Label may show signs of wear
•The software will install on any laptop or desktop computer which is capable of installing and running 64 bit Windows 7.

•Will install on self built or custom built unbranded machines.
•Will install on new machines or machines that have a new hard drive and/or no operating system.
•Can be used to remove and replace old/previous operating system.
•Retail packaging is NOT included.

The disk arrives professionally packaged with some instructions should there be a problem (Which there was none), installed without a hitch and activated first time.

The Logon screen and system information in control panel does have (famous computer distributor) branding, i used TweaksLogon to change the logon screen (to any picture of my choosing) ..

You'll have to remove the competitor names & link from the above post as OcUK also sell the software.

Looks like a deal though :D

Links removed (thanks for the heads up) ... Daugter being at University .. Student deal on windows 8.1 .. £49.99 ..

Thanks Grimley and ExRayTed, almost identical builds posted at virtually same time so I reckon that's the sort of route he will go.
Forgot to say his monitor, KB and mouse are ok for now. HDD not needed as he can use the one from his died PC.
I need a few more posts then can get free shipping so that saves a few pounds also (better go spam another forum!).
Reason he needs OS is because he got free Windows 8 when enrolling on an Open University course but it was single use only  but that's useful to know about 'refurb' OS

SATA HDD - already have
KB and mouse - already have

Yup, all looks good to me. The PSU is obviously over-kill for the 560Ti but will stand you in good stead for an upgrade to pretty much any single GPU

Yes, so should be ok for when he upgrades
Looking at it, you suggested different RAM to what I listed, the Teamgroup Xtreem LV which looks to be better but same price so guess that'd be a better option.
