Hi guys,

I've been looking at building a new PC - have come up with this so far

MSI GeForce GTX 570 OC Twin FrozR III £269.99

Intel Core i5-2500K 3.30GHz OEM £161.99
(£134.99) £161.99

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Intel Z68 (Socket 1155) £146.99

Crucial RealSSD M4 128GB 2.5" £139.99

Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case - Black Pearl Fractal Design Define R3 Midi Tower Case - Black Pearl £69.59

Samsung SpinPoint F4 EcoGreen 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache - OEM (HD204UI) Samsung SpinPoint F4 EcoGreen 2TB SATA-II 32MB Cache

Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit £53.99

Gelid Tranquillo CPU Cooler

Any suggestions or changes? I'm not so sure about the case but it seems ok? I've gone a bit over budget.. but I'm fed up of buying slightly underspecced pc's and regretting not spending the £20-50 later.

Many thanks!

Are you planning on overclocking? If so, a Corsair H80 might be a better option.

the tranquillo can do 4.5GHz+ no problem, to OP i stronly recommend going for the retail CPU(2 extra years of warranty + stock cooler) and the Gen3 version of the motherboard (support for Ivybridge and PCIe 3.0).

Thanks for the tip about the retail version - for £10 it does make sense for an extra 2 years!

As for the Gen 3 version - I usually give away my old boxes rather than upgrading .. other than support for future devices that I probably won't upgrade too.. is there any benefit to spending the extra £20? Just wondering :)

The graphics card.. 570 is fine at 1980x1200?

I would pick up the retail version myself, but if you are happy with the one year warranty, and you are getting a CPU cooler, then go for it. OEM CPUs are harder to sell as well.

IMO, not really. If you want to get within a budget, then you can get a regular Z68. Gen3 -> PCIE3. All Z68 should be IvyBridge compatible. Good board is also the Asus P8Z68-V.
