Good afternoon everyone,

My Dad has asked me to spec a new computer for him. It's one that I will be looking to have built by OCUK and then sent to him, as I'm a few hundred miles away, and he has no experience building them. He's given me a budget of £900 - £1200, but doesn't mind going up to the £1200 limit.

It needs to have a fairly good graphics card as he will be gaming occasionally on things like Witcher 3, Fallout 4 etc on very high settings, but will only need to be 1080p max. Either the 480 or the 1060 would be good. He will not be looking to upgrade for a while.

Also, CPU needs to be pretty good as his main hobby is chess, and his chess software can be quite demanding when he's analysing several games at once.

So far this is what I had in mind. Only extras apart from the tower are windows and a keyboard, but I have left the keyboard out of this as I will let him pick (so take budget approx 1120-1150 or so unless you include the keyboard). How does this look? Do you guy have suggestions to make this better? He would like to upgrade components down the years at some point. I didn't opt for water cooling, as I have had experiences of the pump failing quicker than a fan will, and I'd rather keep things as simple as possible for him.

If I ask OCUK to build this for me, approx how much extra will that add?

Many thanks everyone,

Is he bothered about the case having a window etc? You could save a bit here a get a nice increase in GPU power.

Also IMO you are always better off going with a fast single GPU rather than SLI/Crossfire due to driver issues, unsupported in some games etc.

I really don't think a window would bother him, I will add this to the suggestions, many thanks :)
