Hello everyone,

I am hoping you might be able to help me! 4 years ago I came to these forums after deciding to get back into PC gaming and asked for a PC spec for a £550 budget. I went with all the recommendations and build my first PC which I still use to this day - although the gaming has reduced a fair bit which is why I have never upgraded.

Anyway, I played the BF1 beta last week on my X1 and the game was too good to play on console, I miss the use of mouse + keyboard and would therefore like to try and get a PC for playing BF1. I'm moving into my first house at the end of the year so my budget is around £500. I could stretch slightly if I absolutely had to but would rather not. As with my other build I am not looking to be able to play with all settings on ultra or anything like that, I would just like to be able to run the game with a smooth frame rate on medium settings or something like that.

I am totally out of the loop on hardware now and have no idea if this would even be possible? After the great help I received last time I thought I would come back and try my luck again :)

Thanks in advance
Dan

edit : forgot to mention - no O/S required this is simply for the tower (i can get a new monitor at a later date as mine is 8 years old :D)

Hi Stulid - no I am happy to build it again, wasn't too bad last time and enjoyed the learning process :)

Hi guys,

Bit of good news - can stretch my budget a bit now to £600 for the components + i have an extra £200 which i'd like to spend on a monitor + case

montior size doesnt matter, i use a 19" atm and find that absolutely fine.

So i guess £800 all - anyone got anything further they could add? Will look to order today!

Cheers

i mean my thought behind it was using what Daaave had suggested, then adding case + monitor to that and possibly a slightly better GFX card if the budget let me

as i said I dont know anything about hardware and whats good / compatible, i just know how to put it together.

obviously if its not possible then that's fine and i'd have to sacrifice the monitor until a later date

appreciate everyones help so far and apologies if i dont seem grateful because i am

Morning folks,

Pay day has been, I've booked off Thursday / Friday to do the build and am going to order it today :D Can someone just give this a once over and confirm it is all compatible? I upgraded the RAM to 16GB and reduced the SSD to 120gb as the 240 one mentioned is out of stock! Also just a quick question how easy are SSD's to install? Never used one before.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £879.23
(includes shipping: £12.30)

and I will be accompanying this with the reuse of the below from my current pc :

1 x Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB SATA 6Gb/s 16MB Cache - OEM (WD5000AAKX)
1 x XFX Pro 450W Core Edition '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply
1 x BitFenix Merc Alpha Gaming Case - Black
1 x OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM
1 x BitFenix Spectre 120mm Fan - White
