PC Build - OK?

Hi, my motherboard finally gave up after 6 years of service (AW9D-Max). So I am getting a bit of an upgrade and was hoping one or some of you knowledgeable types could let me know if I am choosing anything stupid.

I already have a power supply, an OCZ 600W modXstream (OCZ600MXSP) which I think should hold up fine. Of course I have a good large case as well, monitor, hard drives, optical drives etc.

However since my motherboard is so old there really is no point going for a direct replacement, it is probably time my first gen Q6600 bite the dust too. Anyway to get to the point this is what I am thinking of buying:

I am pretty sure they are all compatible but I am pretty rusty of my PC hardware. Also if anyone can suggest any better alternatives I would be appreciative of your opinions!

Thanks for the suggestion.

I already have a Coolermaster V8 CPU cooler (I had too much money and it looks good in a HAF) I think this is compatible. So I should be OK. I also just looked and the retail CPU costs the same as the OEM so I have changed it to that. If the V8 does not fit I will use the stock.

I really appreciate the help guys.

All looks good but you are going to need a heatsink to go on that 3570K as the OEM processor is not supplies with one.

If you can afford it go for the extra power of the 7950. If not get this 7850, it is faster out of the box and has a better RMA service.

the retail version also comes with a longer warranty - it is worth the extra money even if you don't use the stock cooler.
(although the 3570k can comfortably reach 4.4Ghz using a £30 air cooler)

Also, i might have missed the context, but saying ''If you can afford it go for the extra power of the 7950. If not get this 7850, it is faster out of the box and has a better RMA service.'' makes it sound like the 7850 is faster than the 7950 out of the box.... it's not. Both are good cards, but the 7950 is considerably better (thus the £100 extra in the price)

When there is a few pounds difference between the prices of the retail and OEM CPUs then the retail is worth the bit extra. However the price difference stands at £18 at the moment, the money saved is halfway towards a decent £30 cooler.

The graphics card is my fault, I should have proof read the post better :(. What I meant was that go for the 7950 if he could afford it. But if not go for that 7850 over the one he had picked for the reasons I gave.

Well I placed my order.

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=AC-000-AC (for the V8 so long as I can find the parts to fit it to new socket)

So I went for the retail CPU for the warranty and the stock cooler just in case I run into problems with the V8 and finding the extra parts for it. I decided to get a new PSU while I was at it as well since I wanted to be sure everything is gonna work fine and my old PSU is a suspect in the murder of my old AW9D-Max ;)

Thanks for all the tips everyone I really appreciate how you make the effort to help out a stranger here.
