Lo all

Built a PC for a freind (specs below) and for some reason, it will pick up the hard drive in the BIOS, but not when I try to install XP. When I plugged my HDD into the system, it would boot up to the windows loading screen, and then crash, flash a very brief BSOD (talking under a second, more of a blue flash). I can't try my Enermax PSU on it as the 12v input on the board is 4pin only, and there are bits and bobs round it so I can't fit my 8pin connector.

Conroe 6300 1.86ghz
ASrock ConroeXfire-eSATA2
BFG 7900gt OC 256mb
320gb Maxtor 10 SATA
Asus DVD burner
Seasonic 430W PSU
2gb Geil PC6400 Ultra Low Latency

Any suggestions at all?

Cheers
Toim

Hi, the reason that your friends system BSOD on your hard drive is cause you are both probably using different motherboards with different chipset and stuff on and it looking for something on your hard drive within his conroe system.

Have you tried installing the SATA drivers, but using your machine, look at the mobo CD and find the sata drivers and instructions and see if you can get a 3.5" floppy drive in his system to make a boot disk per instruction of the mobo and then when you install windows, press F6 to install the sata drivers from the floppy disk you created with the SATA drivers.

Windows need seperate SATA drivers to find the hard drive to install the operating system to, and make a record in the boot area of the drive to load the SATA drivers. You do not need to use the floppy after 1st install.
