Hi looking for a review on the below.

I would like 60fps at 4k, on high. I have typically played GTAV, Anno, Total War, and frankly non overly demanding games in the past. Setup has been i7 6700k with 980, then 1080 and recently 2080 Super. I have been satisfied with performance on 1440p.

However I would like to play GTAVI, Cyberpunk in the future.
  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7600X 4.7 GHz 6-Core — £156.00
  • CPU Cooler: Thermalright Assassin Spirit 120 EVO DARK — £19.00
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B650 EAGLE AX ATX AM5 — £124.99
  • Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL30 — £123.91
  • Storage: Kingston NV3 500 GB NVMe (just for OS) — £34.97
  • GPU: PowerColor Hellhound OC RX 7900 GRE 16 GB — second-hand option around £425–450
  • Case: Montech AIR 903 MAX — £54.98
  • PSU: MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750 W 80+ Gold Fully Modular — ~£90

  • Main concern is suitability to reach the fps/res I want and the secondhand GPU. I have had 2 secondhand GPUs in the past with no issues and plan to test extensively.

Any advice appreciated. I am a noob.

FORGOT TO MENTION BUDGET IS AROUND 1k.

I'd just get a 9070 and skip the used part.

9070 can do 4K, especially with upscaling (FSR4), though native 60 fps should be no problem in the vast majority of games.

You only get 3 m.2 slots on that board and one of them is limited to 2 lanes, so this seems a waste.

what @Tetras said
7900gre for that price is a waste, might as well plop for the 9070 for not much more, new and with warranty and faster too
500gb ssd is a waste for a system of this calibre, 1tb would be my recommendation

in addition, as someone who has used both the 7600 and the 7600x, i would opt for the 7600 any day of the week.
the miniscule performance increase for a massive increase in TDP just isn't worth it (65w vs 105w) and this will also reflect in how noisy the build will be with the cooler fans spinning up and down frequently

the ram is also pretty pricey (i think generally ram prices has increased the last few weeks) if you can source some closer to £80 would be preferable

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £1,071.86 (includes delivery: £11.98)

In terms of workload on your GPU, 1440p to 4K is a much bigger jump than 1080p to 1440p.
Regardless of GPU/budget etc, just seriously consider whether you need 4K.
