Basically went around the local high street shops and got offered a ton of crap for a lot of dosh.

Not being a fan of shopping online due to mates being ripped off or having to return parts and the extra hassle. Went to local shop and the dude shops off ooc and said he'd build me a rig and would be ready by tuesday 14th July. Feel comfy with this as if it breaks , he's just 1 mile down the road.

SPECS
AMD Phenom II X3 720 black edition AM3 2.ghz
ASUS M3N72-D - motherboard - ATX - nForce 750a SLI
Akasa power unit (not sure if it was a 650W or 1000W one now :P)
22 inch widescreen monitor 1680x 1050 (Yusmart JT 229RP black)
Samsung 1TB SATA2 Hard drive
Corsair Twin2X 4GB DDR2 (went cheapo here as I'll get up to 8Gb DDR3 later)
Dual layer DVD Rewriter drive
Coolermaster ELite case
MS Vista 64bit premium with IE7 voucher
GeForce GTS 250 1024MB GDDR3 PCI-Express Graphics Card (can add another one much later)

Price including VAT and labour comes to exactly £750.

Going to get another monitor later so I can multitask.
The rig is basically for Eve - Online, L4D and possibly a little crysis. I know it will play eve easily , my issue is when you get into those fleet fights and your system just starts raging at you.

Helpful reviews or opinions would be appreciated in simple English as I am not a native speaker or techie.

id ask for a GTX260 it wont be much more money and is worth it. using that motherboard you wont be able to add DDR3 later as its a ddr2 board but i wouldnt worry to much about that..

If you can build the pc yourself you'd get a MUCH better deal here i think. Dont worry about getting ripped off as it isnt gonna happen from ocuk and if a part is faulty (very unlikly) it will be replaced without any ****ing about.. let me know if you want a £750 spec from ocuk as it WILL be better..

Ive just put together a spec equivalent to the one you stated and it came to £723 so I would say it's a good price.

But for £750 you could get miles better spec if, you buy a pre built form here or build you own.

Here is a prebuilt system, and for £10 more and this system will run rings around the one you have been quoted:

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FS-030-OE&groupid=43&catid=1444&subcat=

The only thing you would need is a monitor

You will have to be quick though as its a this week only deal, it's normally £908 ;)

These guys are local and shop from ooc website, hence my decision to let them build it for me. too busy working mon-fri and only got the weekend to even play for a bit.probably reading this even lol.

building a pc is quit easy and should only take a few hour's,a day at the most.i would buy my own parts if i where you.ive just ordered my new pc(from OcUK of coarse) and i got a intel pentium dual core overclocked too 3.2ghz,4gig of kingston ram and a good mobo.a coolermaster scout case, ocz 700watt psu, asus gtx260,1TB western digital hard drive,23" acer monitor,a logitec G15 keyboard and a good mouse, and a few other bits for about £775(cant remmber exacly how much) shipped.so i got a good deal there.

Most people build their own system because:

1. They enjoy building PC's
2. They can use the parts they truly want to
3. It is cheaper

If you haven't got the time nor inclination I'd go with it. Looks like a reasonable price for a reasonable system, and local....

You could get a better system if you build it yourself, its not hard to do. And since this is Overclockers theres plenty on hand to help u overclock it.

I wouldn't be surprise if I can build that same spec for 550.

Did you got rip? Well it depends how you think about it. Major brand like Dell, Sony, Acers, HP, Levono...etc will definitely charge you more.

But if you build it yourself, yea...550 you can probably do it. Many of those parts are outdated and price dropping everyday.

Or .. oh well, just found this

Same price and better - it's prebuilt also, the only difference is that it's probably more than mile away but OC has an excellent customer service just in case anything happens.
