Hey guys I'm planning on building a PC just after Christmas with whatever money i have at the time to spend (I'm 15 and aiming for around £1200 maximum). I've been planning it for ages and i make a new build design every month or so. If any of you could recommend any changes etc. that would be greatly appreciated. I plan to use this for video editing, gaming, everyday activities and possibly live streaming HD video if i buy a capture card.

This is my first PC build but I have done a lot of research into learning what I need etc. Basically, as I'm only 15 and don't have a job yet, I probably won't upgrade for quite a while so I want the best parts possible for my budget.

P.S. I will also need a monitor, keyboard, mouse and possibly speakers included in the budget, with hopefully a little room for powerline adaptors and other things

if you wanted to save money, and have a better go at gaming, you should go for an i5-2500k(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-360-IN), instead of an i7-2600k, as that's quite pricey, and not essential.

as for the GPU, i would probably get 2 6950's(http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-271-SP) and crossfire them, which would still be powerful enough in a couple of years+.

this may make your build over £1200, but im sure some stuff can be altered for price means, if necessary.

have you done much reading as your spec is a mismash of old i7(1366 socket mb and triple channel ram if you go for 12gb) and new i7(i2600k which is 1155 socket so your chosen mb wouldn't work with it).

for i2600k you need a 1155 socket(would say the z68 chipset rather than the p67 chipset) mb and dual channel ram.

with the cooler and ram you need to take into account of the fins on the ram as they can interfer with cooler.

the crucial m4 ssd seems to be the one of choice at the moment.

if you read the op carefully its mentioned that the pc will be used for video editing so the i2600k will be better, also the 6950 you've linked is 1gb better to go for the 2gb version.

The 560 ti is a great mid-range card. Will get you playing most games on high settings at good resolutions. If you game at 1080p or less, you will be absolutely fine.

Thanks for replying. I'd rather go for the i7 though as i am unlikely to upgrade for quite a while. As for the graphics card(s), I've been told that NVIDIA is better for video editing with Adobe because of its CUDA or something?

No i'm pretty new to this PC building stuff so I had no idea that they weren't compatible :P is it not possible to have triple channel ram though? I would have preferred to have 12GB and upgrade to 24 later on. is there a cheaper mobo that will work? I'm not bothered about integrated graphics.

Yeah I've heard about the m4, i'll have a look.

Also, what do you know about CUDA? Would 2GB ATI (no CUDA) be better than 1GB NVIDIA (with CUDA) for video editing? I want to be able to play games at max quality but i'm not overly bothered.

Tried to take peoples suggestions into account. Not sure about the GPU sorry. With the SSD I don't think you need to RAID and it'll be expensive, the 2TB HDDs are still good.

Thanks for doing this. I notice the HDD you added is only 5400rpm, so not that quick. Would it be a good idea to use the SSD whilst editing etc then move the files across to the HDD afterwards? I know that they have a limited amount of read/writes but i've heard that they will still last a lifetime
 
Not sure about that tbh! Yeah it is 5400rpm, but has a very density you so still get good transfer rates from it.

Ok I think i've decided on the 560Ti now. I may do SLI in the future and OC if possible but i'd rather not get above 650W as i wanna keep the costs down :P

Another thing... so any of you have good recommendations for a cheaper case? I want it to be quite quiet but with good cooling and obviously has to look nice ;)
 
I'm gunna do a new post on this as well, but for a monitor would a TV like this be good enough.

It's a very good deal at £170. It has 3 HDMI ports, so I will be able to use it for my laptop, PS3 and obviously PC at the same time, is 28" (yes I know this is big for a desk) and is full HD1080p (1920x1200). 5ms response time.
