Hi,

I want to build myself a new PC - mainly for gaming. I am looking for a rig at a price of £800 and another at around £1000 as the budget may change.

Problem is I am completely out of my depth with this stuff now and I haven't a clue what is good and what is not. I am going going price alone which I'm sure isn't the best way to go about it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Rich

for the computer itself:
800 quid= mid-high end spec
1000 quid = high end spec

do you need keyboard/mouse/monitor/operating system too?

TBH It is a little frustrating to lose clarity at certain angles. How much would a decent one set me back nowadays though?

I have two of these:

They are the very cheapest of 24 inch IPS screens and are brilliant.
I game on them a lot, with fast moving games like BF3 and have had no issues. It is 1200p too rather than the more common 1080p screens.

Only when I put it alongside my old screen did I realise who rubbish the Samsung was! Don't buy a £150 24 inch screen as it will be equally as poo as yours, even though it will be an LED backlit one that is thin.

Theres nothing wrong with the Silent Pro and its modular too.

Also I paid £100 for my monitor and to be honest its fine.

The Silverstone Strider is also modular and performs better (the Silent Pro doesn't handle crossloading as well and it's using Teapo caps which I don't rate). Not saying the CM will blow up or anything, but for a brand new build I think it's worth the upgrade.

We'll just have to agree to disagree on that.
