Hi All,

Been looking at skylake builds for both my brother and a mate both have about £1000 to spend on the PC alone, no peripherals (Mouse, keyboard, Monitor)

My Mates PC will be a complete new build, no additional parts to be scavenged from old PCs.

My Brother has an old first Gen i3 which he'll be reusing a new SSD and his HDD, Case, I suspect he'll need a new PSU.

So for both i was looking at:

Intel Core i5-6600K 3.9GHz (Skylake) Socket LGA1151 Processor - Retail
Stock Code CP-579-IN

£224.99*

Asus Z170 Pro Gaming Intel Z170 (Socket 1151) DDR4 ATX Motherboard

£119.99*

Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4 PC4-21300C16 2666MHz Dual Channel Kit - Black (CMK16GX4M2A26

£89.99*

Samsung 250GB 850 EVO SSD 2.5" SATA 6Gbps 32 Layer 3D V-NAND Solid State Drive (MZ-75E250B/EU)

£74.99*

Sapphire Radeon R9 Tri-X 390X 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card (11241-00-20G)

£319.99*

Western Digital Caviar Black 2TB SATA 6Gb/s 64MB Cache HDD - OEM (WD2003FZEX)

£99.95*

SuperFlower Leadex Platinum 750W Fully Modular "80 Plus Platinum" Power Supply - Black

£112.99*

Totalling £1,053.99

Any Thoughts? Does the CPU come with a HSF? Think I read somewhere they don't on retail, can anyone confirm? The mate is looking at a Phantek Enthoo - Titanium Green case as well. Anywhere I can trim some £ but still get similar performance?

Cheers Team

CPU+board bundle deal - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...-6600k-bundle-20-pounds-saving-bu-021-gi.html

Then heres my guide how to overclock it - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18690667

=============================================

If you need 16Gb RAM theres also,

This board - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/giga...cket-1151-ddr4-atx-motherboard-mb-527-gi.html

Includes a single 8GB stick of Corsair DDR4 RAM.

But for an extra £35 you can add a 2nd stick making a total of 16GB and making best use of the dual channel memory controller.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £198.48
(includes shipping: £10.50)

Cheers Stulid, That looks like it'll shave me a Tenner off each, would you recommend that board over the Asus Z170 Pro Gaming? Is the rest of the spec ok?

I have no problems recommending them over asus, they both support SLI+Crossfire, the gaming 5 has a 4yr warranty.

As for the other parts,

2TB Black, not worth it, get a Red/Blue/green/Seagate etc.

EVGA G2 and P2 750/850W PSU are made by Superflower too, but look and you will see they have huge warranties.

Right I'll have a scan through them too, didn't realise EVGA were made by Superflower, thanks for the heads up. The Second HDD is going to be mainly for storing games, so Blue?

sorry for the delay in response got stuck in a load of meeting on friday. Hmm surprised you said Red for gaming drive, thought they were slower 5900rpm drives?

Yup they are but the real-world difference is negligible during loading. I have all my seldom played games on a 4tb Red drive and they load and play just fine

Fit what ever amount of games as you can on the SSD.

Retail Skylake "K" CPUs do not include a heatsink.
