Hi guys, I'm building a PC for my cousin who has an RGB case (Lancool-II) and I've never dealt with RGB before so I'm unsure on where some of the cables are meant to be plugged in.

Motherboard used is a Gigabyte B550M DS3H mATx.

I've looked through the manual and watched YT videos but still not confident where they need to go. Heard some stories that if you plug RGB stuff in the wrong place it can ruin the board so a bit nervous

Here's the pictures of said cables:

Any help would be appreciated, cheers!

The good news is that you cannot plug those into the wrong pins.

The top pic is a pwm fan header but it does not look a standard one so what brand are they? Guessing Lian Li so you most likely need a controller box to plug it into
Second one down is ARGB so plugs into the 3 pin ARGB headers on mobo. You will have RGB (4 pin) and ARGB (3 pin , you can see one is blocked out) on your mobo , yours can only plug into the 3 pin ARGB so you cannot go wrong.
Third is sata power and plugs into sata power lead from PSU. Where is this coming from , the case or a controller box ?
Last one you left the plastic on but I think it is a male rbg header of some type, 3 or 4 pin.

Everbody hates rgb and the entire industry is a mess. Hopefully someone else can help a bit more. I plug mine in and try to forget the nightmare that is rgb.

Thanks for the help Haz. Yeah I'm very confused by it all haha. All the cables shown are coming from the case itself which you were correct in saying is Lian Li.

So I can't just plug the first one in to one of the D_LED sockets in the motherboard?

Still a bit miffed about it, not gonna lie

I have looked at the manual but I am not sure what the first one is. It is 3 pin like a fan header so it must be pwm for the front fans(does it come from a fan or direct from case front IO ?) but it doesnt look like it will fit into a standard fan header so dont try and force it in. Few versions of Lancool II so I may be looking at the wrong manual.

Hope someone can help you more, the first connector has me baffled.

Well I'm going to be another one that's not 100% but reading the online manual the 3 pin LED is 5v near the bottom on the board and the 4 pin LED_CPU is 12v so I'm guessing but not 100% as you have a 3 pin connection on the cable it will go to the bottom one bud....

But don't take my word for it, sorry its not much help

Any further suggestions? No one seems to 100% know. Shall I just plug stuff in and hope for the best?

Build the PC and just do not plug that connector in the first pic in. If a fan is not spinning or lighting up then you know what it is. If something is not working it will give you a clue wtf it is. Sorry I cannot be more help.

So an update on this. I've built the PC. PC itself is all good but the front panel RGB isn't working (suprise suprise)

Anyone else got this case and know where you connected the above cables I posted?

This is plugged in to nothing at the moment.

This is plugged in to a D_LED socket in the motherboard.

This is plugged in to one of the sata connections on my power supply.

This is plugged in to nothing.

Cheers.

The bottom pic looks like an male rgb lead , that is most likely why the front rgb is not working. Pull of the plastic from the end and it will be either 3 or 4 pin and plug into an adaptor like in pic 2.

The top pic , does that plug into the empty socket in pic 4 ?

The bottom pic is a 4 pin. So unplug lead in pic 2 from the mother board and plug it in to pic 4?

Try plug the top pic in to the white empty socket in pic 4?

Hit confusing all this ain't it

Just found this:

Not my case but same connectors apart from the illusive top pic and same brand.
