i have a wee concern, im looking for a new pc chair which will be used in my living room in which i will be getting real wood laminate flooring laid soon, my concern is that the wheels of the pc chair will mark or damage the wooden floor as its real wood an softer than cheap hard laminates. I know ikea do castors suitable for laminate flooring but even then i would be concerned there would be marks left on the floor.

anyone have any suggestions on this as i dont want to put a mat down on the floor, i do spend a lot of time on my pc but i want to find out more about this before i buy a chair. i like the leather chairs with wooden effect arm rests and base.

am i better off just using a nice chair instead ?

Can't you get some of the cheap foam tape used for insulation doors/windows and stick it on the wheels?

im unsure of this, is it a tried method as it might wear and then cause damage, nice idea tho.

You could always remove the wheels from the chair, and replace with small rubber type things? But then you wont be able to move around on your chair

yes that would be awkward for getting in and out from the desk

Last time I was in ikea they sold a plastic mat you put your chair on so the casters wouldn't damage the floor.

does this mat cover a decent area and does it look ok for a living room

I've had an office chair on laminate flooring at home for over two years. No damage so far.

A girl I know also has a laminate floor, no damage to her floor from her chair wheels

yeah but is it real wood laminate as its not as tough as the cheaper laminates
