pc clock loosing time

The clock on my pc has just started going funny, turned it on this afternoon and it looks like the clock stopped sometime last night.

Is there some sort of internal battery ?

The CMOS Battery on the moherboard should keep the clock going after a power off.

i thought so, whats the average life of a cmos battery ?

Not sure about average life. I replaced my CMOS battery when my relatives clock froze and now its fine.

thanks, are all cmos batteries the same ?
