PC completely powers off in-game

So I've just bought an MSI GTX 460 Hawk and it runs my current games on max no sweat, no graphical issues whatsoever, but after about two minutes of play time my computer just switches off completely.
I don't have any software to measure the temperatures so I just switched off the power from the back and had a poke around with my finger, the GPU is completely cool, my RAM was a little warm and so was the HDD, the north-bridge heatsink was scorching hot.
Any help would be much appreciated

Rig setup:
MSI GTX 460 Hawk
2.87GB DDR2 800MHz RAM (1x2GB, 1x0.87GB)
Q6600 Quad 2.4MHz
1TB Hard Drive
Gigabyte GA-73PVM-S2H mobo
600W Toughpower PSU

How old is the PSU. Sounds like that could be the issue. I have a toughpower myself and it's been a steady performer. Only thing that I can think would cause that.

Just cuts out like the plugs been pulled? No warnings, errors etc.
 
The PSU is something like two years old, but I didn't have a graphics card before so it wasn't pushed too hard, did get daily use though.
Maybe the fact that my HDD only has a couple of GB left is noteable too
But yeah, it just cuts off as if I pulled the plug from the socket, but powers back up when I hit the power button.
 
i had the same problem with a 6870 at first thought it was psu but the psu was new, i tried everything untill i reset the switch on the card and changed pci slot and it was all sorted.
 
600W is definitely enough to power a 460 or any single card for that matter. So it's definitely not cutting out due to being short of juice.

Worth trying what the guy above says. However, not sure what switch you're on about.
