Originally i had a custom built machine running the following components...
Gigabyte X470 Ultra Gaming
AMD 3900x processor
32gb corsair RAM
AMD 5700XT Red Devil
650w PSU
1 x Corsair MP600 NVME drive x 1TB
Randomly i would get a complete system lockup with just a completely blank green screen immediately followed by a crash and reboot, no entries in event viewer and once the machine booted the AMD graphics software would show a Wattman message saying settings having gone back to default following a failure.
I've now completely rebuilt the machine using:
MSI Gaming Pro Carbon x570
AMD 5800x processor
32gb corsair RAM
AMD 6800XT MSI trio GPU
HX850w corsair PSU
1 x Corsair MP600 500gb
1 x Corsair MP600 1tb
Fresh build of Windows 10, all updates applied
The only thing that stayed the same was the case and once again im getting the blank green screen and crash.
It randomly happens in DCS or MS flight Sim 2020 sometimes i can go days and it wont happen, then some days it will happen multiple times in the space of 30 minutes. One thing i can do that guarantees it happening is using Netflix via MS Edge, as soon as i run a film, bang, i get the blank green screen and crash. Always with the AMD graphics card Wattman message on the first boot after the crash.
Ive seen a few other people mention the same thing on other forums with a fix to use older AMD drivers, only i cant do that as the driver they suggest doesnt support the 6800XT. Has any one experienced this behaviour and fixed it without using old drivers?
