pc crashed a minute into games

Hi all

My pc is the following spec -

E6420 @3.20ghz- stock vcore
2gb memory
320mb 8800gts
and so on and so forth

It has now decided that if I want to play a game it will crash around a minute into said game - be it COD4 or CS:S and while the numlock still responds I cannot get the pc to do anything. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Hmm, could be heat.

How long has GPU been fitted ? (thinking of fan clogged with dirt etc).

Most likely overheating

Download Rivatuner and check your temps and set the fan speed if neccisery.

Also, have you checked to make sure your clock is stable using something like Orthos?

I was just about to ask why you suspect the GPU?

I've had similar issues in the past, and it was my CPU clock that was the culprit, and I was trying to run it with too low a voltage once it was being stressed by a game.

If it is the GPU, then have you tried clearing out and reinstalling the latest GPU drivers?

Sorry for the late reply and thanks for your responses. I just looked in riva tuner and noticed on the overclocking tab that one of them was at 0mhz. I set the clocks back to default for now and its working fine

I'll have a tinker with overclocking again when I get the chance to, but for now to all of those who helped - thanks and have a great crimbo
