Hi,

I hope someone will be able to point me in the right direction as what to look for or into to try and resolve my current problem.

Was using the PC this morning when all of a sudden it just switched itself off.

The motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R.

I removed all power and cables, even switched off the power on the power, waited a few minutes. Plugged everything back in and tried to reboot, but nothing.

All I get is the fans starting up, then stopping, no Beeps from the PC/Motherboard. I can see two lights left lit on the MB, one green, one amber, no reds.

I've had a look and all seems seated correctly, even removed and refitted the memory, but still no joy.

I did notice that the fan for the PSU, starts, but doesn't continue upon trying to boot, but is this just because there isn't any power being drawn from it by the MB?

If anyone has any ideas as what to look at or try I'd be forever grateful.

Thanks & Regards,

Andrew

take out the mb/cmos battery (youll lose any oc settigns though) leave it out a good 15 minutes then put back in and try

Hi,

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

PSU I think is OK, as I have power to the MB (lights on).

Have removed CMOS battery and will report back.

Regards

Sounds like PSU I have one die on me but would still light up MB lights. I think something goes in it but doesn't stop all the rails from working hence the lights working.

Right...

Have tried removing the CMOS Battery and that didn't do the trick. Everything the same.

I'll try another PSU.

Question: The spare is a 650, will that be enough to power my current config in my sig?

Thanks & Regards

What PSU is it? A decent 550W is good enough for any single card setup and will happily run that system. If in doubt just run the system with CPU, GPU and 1 stick of RAM.

Hi,

It's actually the one in my Sig, a Corsair HX 650W.

I bought a EVGA SuperNova G2 850W '80 Plus Gold' Modular Power Supply back in May 2014, just never updated my Sig to reflect the change.

The 650 is running fine, so the fault lies in the EVGA PSU, which I'll have to RMA back to EVGA I presume rather than OcUK?

Thanks to all for your help and suggestions.

Regards,

Andrew
