Hi, I built my first PC a few months ago but have started getting some problems. Recently at random times (usually when watching online video) my PC will freeze up, make a noise like an old commodore loading games and produce various green and pink coloured pixellated artifacts onscreen. All I can do is cold restart it and re-boot then it's fine again.

I have been having problems with my RAM and suspect it isn't 100 percent compatible as I've never really had it running stable at the timings it is supposed to run at.

I have ran memtest and the modules are fine but I just don't think it's optimized or fully compatible with my board/processor.

Does this sound like a RAM related problem or could it be something else ?

Cheers

I'm currently using the onboard graphics and sound. Now you mention it, it seems to have started happening after I took out my old 7600GT as I didn't really see a difference in performance so figured I'd make do with the onboard until I get the cash for a 5850.
