PC keeps crashing about 10mins after utorrent is launch but the time it takes varies, sometimes its 5 mins sometimes almost 20 but only when utorrent is running. The screen just freezes and a fast murmering sound out of the speakers.

Ive done virus scans and spyware. Nothing appears to be overheating.
So if anyone has any ideas...

Thanks

what bulid is it? i had a problem with the latest version (1.7.7) but utorrent was just locking up, so i downloaded 1.7.6 and seems to be ok

utorrent crashes on my laptop, but ok on desktop. Started to hate torrents so moved to newsgroups instead, much faster :)

If you are running it on Vista 64 then it is a known bug. I run the latest one on my XP partition and it runs fine.

reduce the maximum amount of global connections utorrent is allowed to use (200 or less)

options>preferences>bittorrent

you dont happen to be using usb modem are you

could be the nvidia firewall if you're using it, it's cack

thats true, Utorrent is known not to like Nvidia firewall, at all

the only way to fix this problem is to uninstall the Nvidia firewall completely or update it to a newer version

the utorrent FAQ shows that Nvidia firewall can eat your system memory (and therefore make it crash in your case?).

read here for details of how to remove it or upgrade it
