Hey guys,

I was hoping one of you fine fellows could help me out with a little issue ive been experiencing regarding crashes.

Ive had over the past 7 days around 3 crashes and I can't seem to string a pattern between them other than they all happen when playing games.

The first type of crash that has happened the most is a black screen followed by a whole system restart with no warning messages or anything. Upon asking windows what the problem was it never comes back with anything stating it cant access the page and to try again later.

The second type of crash which has happened only once and may be completely unrelated is a crash where a first get taken to the desktop to which I recieved a message from marvel storage or similar saying that my hard drive 0 was now connected. This then ended up in a blue screen and then switch off. I presume what happened here is the hard drive (internal) decided to disconnect and reconnect for some reason (dying?). Ive had an issue before where the hard drive has disconnected, couldnt work out why I couldnt play music until I opened windows explorer.

Anyway im not sure what these crashes are linked to and as such I was hoping one of you could shine a little light on the problem and get it rectified.

Thanks in advance :)

Download ssdlife and see how many hours use the m4 is at,if around 5400 hours you need to flash the firmware to latest version

Thanks for the response guys.

How would I go about updatin the firmware?

Ive gone onto crucials website and there doesn't seem to be anything about firmware drivers or anything.

Cheers :)

Just as an update ive downloaded the firmware for the SSD but it said there are no SSD's that currently need an update.

Also I just started a multiplayer match on Company of Heroes 2 and about 5 minutes into the game I had a sound loop and black screen crash. Had to hard reset the system to get it back on and responding.

what did ssdlife say? can you post a screenshot of it?

it could be anything but I would start at the ssd fw first

Another update.

SSDlife says the following:

Work Time: 11118 hours (1 year 3 months 8 days 6 hours)
Powered on: 1839 times
Trim: supported, enabled

Health is 98%

Estimated lifetime: 8 years 2 months 20 days
(T.E.C. date - June 04 2023)

your fine your on latest fw so its not the ssd

it could be gpu or pc memory related

could try with 1.06v cpu/vtt voltage in bios see if that helps things

Ill give it a go.

The difficulty is it doesn't happen an awful lot although it does seem to have ramped up in efforts lately.

Its worth noting that my SSD is simply for windows. The games I am crashing on are on my Seagate 1TB drive.

I have some other games and music on the smaller HDD and I HAVE had issues in the past with my media player crashing (actually happens a lot) and ive even had it where the drive wasn't detectable at all until I restarted.

Also im pretty certain its not a GPU issue as its around 4-5 months old and its even been tested by OCUK for the same issue about 3-4 months ago. All came back clear and it ran like a dream until now.

don't you get any bsod screens though? if it just freezes and sound loops its usually memory related

Ive had 1 BSOD which happened when the marvel storage message came up. Said something like storage device 0 is now connected. Of course by the time it had done that the screen had gone black a couple of times and then ended in a BSOD.

Otherwise its a sound loop followed by a complete black screen crash.
