PC Crashing during WoW

Hi guys,

My PC is around a year old now, always been fine.

Anyway I recentley decided to go back to playing WoW, now when ever I play it after about 20 minutes in game my PC just turns off. No BSOD, just turns itself off.

It's kinda wierd 'cos when I used to play WoW before it never crashed, so I wonder why it's doing it now?

I've tried reinstalling the game, that didn't work and I don't think it's overheating either (it's not particularly hot to touch and it's never overheated in the past).

Other games don't make it crash either, just WoW.

Any ideas?

Thanks for any help :)

Nope I don't get that message, just as if I've pulled the plug out. Then when it starts up again it's just normal windows loading, no BIOS messages or anything.

Really can't figure out what WoW is running that would make it do this.

Could it be graphics drivers or something?

hmmm have u tried right clicking on my computer>manage>event viewer>system?

that will tell you everything that has happened with the system... there is usually a link to follow on there to the help and support section...

try that, see what it says :)
Every error in there is a network error, nothing to do with WoW or anything.

Thanks though nice idea :)

They're errors mainly from another PC on the network, something about trying to be the main network browser or something.

I've been on this network for the past year at home, so I can't see why that would be a problem now.

Maybe it is overheating, the only other real PC game I play is FM2007 and I doubt that's as strenuous on the system as WoW.

Just rebooted my PC and had a look at PC Health Status in BIOS. It says CPU Temp is 99oC   surely that can't be right?

Yeah, I don't think the reading is right though. 99oC and it never crashed at all during anything but WoW.

gah, I dunno. Might just do a format see if that fixes it :p

you dont have a blurtooth dongle plugged in do you??

if i leave mine in, my pc hangs when playing CSS after about 20 mins.

its fine if i leave it out
Nope, no dongle.

I'll try playing WoW again now see if anything happens.

Crashed after about 10 minutes, looks like a format :(

The last message in System Event Viewer is:

TCP/IP has reached the security limit imposed on the number of concurrent TCP connect attempts.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

Time was 2 minutes before I posted this so about the time the PC turned itself off during WoW.

Could that have anything to do with it?

Core temp is reporting 68oC just now. I am running a Shuttle so bare that in mind.

Core temp after wow reported 85oC, so I guess it is overheating.

Looks like I'll have to reseat the heat sink or something.

Just rebuilt the PC, reseated the HS and reapplied thermal paste.

Core Temp reporting 64oC at the moment, going to try WoW now *fingers crossed*

:)
