PC Crashing (No BSOD) help needed

No smoke without fire as they say. I just downloaded OCZ's SSD Utility tool, as soon as it loaded and it started checking for SSD's I got a hard lock.

I think I have an SSD lying about I can swap in the check but I can't do that until, Friday.

[EDIT] Just tried 2 more times and got a hard lock the first time and the second time it didn't lockup but it did become unresponsive.

Seems pretty suspect to me that one of the two SSD is acting up. I don't recall if my 2 HDD's get picked up by these utility tools but even if they did 1 is storage and the other is for non-ssd required games so during normal usage I can't image them being the problem.

is the operating system on an SSD ? or HDD ? i had the same isse a while back i had a 4 month old HDD it was a samsung i think ... and cuz it was new i doubted it and what do you know 2 months after it crashed ..and the HHD you could hear the needle in it clicking

It's on my SSD. I do have a HDD aswell, and it's quite old, however I'm not so sure it's that (any way to properly test to be sure?) because I don't experience any slow downs when using it and it doesn't "sound" broken, about as quiet as ever.

@esoteric, it doesn't sound like the same crash I'm having as you say your mouse freezes and that your system becomes unresponsive to ctrl alt del, however mine is a complete freeze with loss of display.

Just crashed again, literally nothing but steam open. This is getting really annoying, added date to original post but I'm not seing a pattern other than it's getting more frequent now. Does that indicate anything? I really want to get this fixed. I think all of my parts are still under warranty, so as long as I can figure out what's wrong I can get it sorted.

Mine completely freezes too and I have the sound drag if there is audio to be dragged. The only time my screen blanks is when it's off overnight and a crash has happened.

I've ordered a new SSD but might not come until, Monday. I've had 1 crash today since I got home, when running around the training room in, Overwatch. I ran 1 pass of Memtest86 and 0 faults. I've moved, Overwatch to my Windows drive so everything I'm using is all on 1 drive and I just played 2 maps with no issue.. and just typing this my display drivers stopped responding:eek:I really hope my gfx card isn't the problem. I only have GTX 470 as spare.

Gunna see what happens over the weekend anyway.

Another crash, have almost nothing to add at this point though. Other than that I've checked all temperatures and reseated connections, all fine and still happens.

This looks more like some kind of short or power issue. Have you swapped any power cables and plugged into main plug socket and not through an extension? Tried it outside the case to rule out shorting? One thing i think you should be doing is trying another PSU if you can get hold of one.

In my case I don't have another PSU to try. From around 3:30 yesterday until midnight I have 0 problems. Today I booted from a night being switched off and got 2 crashes back to back as soon as I got to character select in, Overwatch and since the 3rd try which is from around 10:30am I've had no problems. It's like a funny 5 minutes and then business as usual.

Every time I do get a crash and reboot, during POST it hangs a bit to detect my OS SSD and even moves past without seeing it but I still get to Windows np.

Have tried another cable and already plug directly into main socket without an extension. Not tried outside of case but had that checked and not an issue. Would like to try with a different PSU but see no way to do so atm.
