MMM with all the problems ive been having recently im starting to think that perhaps i need to rma something.

Ive got rainbow six to work by booting from my old hard drive, i found out its a bug with how 1.06 is patched but i just using the old files for that.

Now its taken me 4 reboots to get to where i am now, my ram is at 1.975 my cpu is only overclocked to 3ghz but ive upped the voltage to something like 1.375 anyway, ive upped the MCH by 1 so i beleive its at 2.4.... or was it 1.4? aww i cant remember but at 3ghz o a q6600 go i dont think i should be needing to up it anyway.

It appears to crash when i try close the abit uguru thing, which is terrible because its not compatible with vista and all and always crashs the moment you try do anything on it. But ive not been having problems all day.

Ive run through the crysis demo twice and its been fine, ive played comand and conquer, rainbow six. Why does it randomly deside it doesn't want to load yet is fine under load in crysis???

Further more whats really peeing me off is the fact that if its nudged just a little the screen freezes! whats up with that!

you're cursed mate!

seriously though, I had to uninstall uguru.exe on my vista 64-ultimate build (IP35 Pro), kept giving random crashes. Once its gone, no more snags. I use everest for monitoring, and all's well. there may be a later build that solves it but I haven't checked.

I can't think why your screen should twitch when hit, other than it may have a flakey power connect. not good news I know, but somewhere to start. let's face it, hitting the screen couldn't affect the gfx/cpu right?

fwiw: have you done any stability testing, prime95v25.4, orthos, etc. might be worth looking at if you haven't already.

[edit]
what kind of volts are you pushing for vCore, vDimm, mch?
[/edit]

other than that, make sure you have the latest drivers, etc. best of luck bud, hth :).

The pc totaly freezes when its nudged i have to restart. yes im just bout to uninstall uguru.

As for volts umm think its 3.75 in cpu for a 3ghz overclock. it was stable at stock but i just put it up after a fwe crashs which i now think arn't related to the overclock. MCH i put that up by one as well to try and stop the crashs, but i dont think they are related to that either so i beleive its at 2.4 instead of 2.3.

Vdimm is ram right? thats at 1.975

As for stress testing, well not got around to taht yet i haefv run prime a bit. but it only stress's jkust over half my 4gb of ram? I thought the crysis demo all on veryhigh was a good enough stress test for now.

Yes i do beleive im cursed. This kit has failed to be deleived 3 times and the third time was because they ran out of sound cards, which im still waiting for.

:(

3.75v won't be for the processor, your motherboard wouldn't allow that kind of voltage lol.

What OCZ memory are you running? 1.8v is JEDEC standard and a lot of memory brands are going quite a bit past it. 1.975 might not be enough for 4 sticks.

I did read a few problems with uGuru and the X38 Abit board but that was at launch.

for 3.0GHz, 1.375v vCore should be fine (not 3.75v), I'm inclined to think that 1.975 may not cut it for your ram though - 2.1v should be a good starting point.

I thought you meant hitting your monitor, my bad, if touching your machine causes failure, maybe you have a loose connection somewhere. On the other hand, your mobo might be dodgy. To be honest, kick it through some stress tests to rule that out first, for peace of mind if nothing else - otherwise rma might be the best choice.

typeo i ment to say 1.375v lol. The ram is ment to be between 1.9 and 2.0

But the pc appears to be stable untill i touch it :s its very strange. Ill have to put it through some stress testing. Whats the bset one to use? Im wondering if its a lose connection as well, i had a play about and i couldn't find anything.

I downloaded everest ultimate, its really detailed... i dont even know where to look.

I'd recommend prime95v25.4 - small-ffts - for a min.8-hours, but other people vary. however it should *never* jolt by touching. run your stress-tests to rule out any bad o/c at the right volts, if it continues to break when you touch it, you're really looking at return to sender mate.

btw, remember to hit "round-off checking" under the advanced menu, or it won't report errors.

any chance of the mobo shorting with you case ? or something else shorting the mobo somewhere ?

Yeah, sounds like you need a check everything is connected right, seated properly and secure, right down to your CPU. Of course the obvious answer is not to nudge it! :p

Sort of off topic, but it does remind me of a mate who had has computer positioned under his desk just right for me to kick the reset button at vital moments when we'd be playing Red Alert...

PK!

Could be shorting to be fair...?

Even if your cpu ehatsink/fan was loose when you hit the case, it wouldn't crash the system, unless it was physically bending the board.

What cooling are you using for the cpu? If it's the stock cooler it's probably bending the board as they do, unless you have a backplate on obviously.

Also, how is your graphics card seated? Try putting the system on it's side if it's in a tower case, and nudge it then.

And to be fair, it could even be the hard drive failing when it gets nudged. If you have a spare hdd you could try and install on that and try the same thing's...Obviously disconnecting the original drive though to rule it out.

when i opened my case up i gave things little hits, i hit the tuniq tower and it died. I dont want it to be my cpu :( lol.

Also in prime 95 a lot of things seem grayed out like its a trail version but everyone i download is the same.

When you hit the Tuniq though it could have bent the board as well....Have you tried re-installing the Tuniq?

How tight did you do the screws up the first time around as well? Cause they only need to be finger tight really.

Hah :)

Possibility, could have damaged the tracks on the mobo or something.

Try un-installing it as I said, lay the system on it's side / out of the case, and just rest it on top (with the fan connected obviously) See what happens.

Then try it with the cooler installed, but not done up with a screw driver...Literally do them up by hand, but so they're tight...just not TIIIIIIIIIGHT!!!...If you get me.

strange, it no longer crashs when nudged. But having trouble getting it stable at 3.4ghz, had it with 1.425v and put the north bridge up by 3 and it still wasn't stable. Got the ram on 2v
