Hi there, Im having a problem with my PC, when I initially start it up after 5 minutes or so it cuts out as if Ive lost power. Then when i re-start it its ok until the next time. I also noticed my cooling fans which used to be lit up with LED the fans are working but there is no LEDs lit up now any ideas?

thanks

Power saving mode ? Would not have thought anything could overheat in 5 mins, when sat idle.

Do you mean case fans or cpu? You can could disconnect the case ones, in case it some wierd short

First thing i would check would be the psu, its getting on around 2 years old which shouldn't be a problem. The red flag is the brand Kolink, they dont have the best track record tbh and the symtoms your describing seem to indicate a power issue.

if over temprature was a problem it would rear its head sooner than 5-7 mins, the 2700x if not cooled properly will overheat in a split second. you could give the pc a good clean out just in case dust is a factor but if the same thing happens i'd look at te psu, if rgb isnt working on the fans i'd have a look and check they are plugged in correctly and if you get no joy again i'd look at the psu

do you happen to know if the pc is still under warranty with ocuk, if so it may be worth contacting them to discuss options.

That PSU is OK good.
Though of course with that kind scammy brand there's no guarantee there weren't "cost downs" after review samples.

Actually that motherboard is worser and VRM needs cooling to avoid running very hot, if 2700X is running full all core load...
Even at stock.

Anyway start by monitoring temperatures to see if there's any rising tendency before shut down.

Also check Event viewer and reliability history for anything serious time stamped close to shutdown or for abnormal errors.

Hi sorry for not getting back earlier, ive tended to live with th eproblem, until my teenage son ran a programme that checked the temp of the CPU, on initial start up the temp of the CPU ramps up to 104 Degrees C then shuts down, I instantly re-start it and the CPU runs normal at approx 40 degrees C and doesnt crash. Is there any ways to fix this?
Thanks in advance

Look if you've got any sort of overclock setup in bios and remove it, disable PBO etc.

Could be your pump is starting to fail on the cooler too.

I was going to say temp issues... when I built my current rig I forgot to plug in the power supply cable for my aio (yeah dumb moment) and my pc shut down like the OP's did due to essentially the cpu protecting itself. IF the fans are spinning then it's the pump end of the cpu cooler imo, you'll get a few mins of 'passive' cooling without the pump when it's idle but it won't like much else.

OP you need to check all the cables linked to the cpu cooler are still plugged in, if they are then the odds are the AIO is failing (I've had aio fail after less than 2 years)... depending on the device you might be able to see the 'rpm' of the pump via hwmonitor, take notice of the fan header when checking (looks like the aio is connected to a fan/pump header) and then look for it in the fans section of hwmonitor/bios. Assuming it's been set to 100% in the bios (most aio suggest this) it should be the highest rpm showing, my aio (albeit different brand) is 2500rpm for example.

Are you using an AIO or water cooler?

Check if it’s working and if the pump hasn’t gone.

Else, if an air cooler, check the thermal paste and that the is enough pressure on the cpu to properly cool it.

Assuming out of warranty, I would confirm if the liquid cooler has failed and get ready to replace it. Below is a link on how to diagnose if the pump is the failure point and then replacing with a more reliable air cooler:

PC stable now, removed cooler and CPU cleaned everything, the radiator was quite bad, new compound on CPU, updated BIOS .

ALL ok now

Thanks
