Well, I press the power button earlier today everything seems to get power but no signal on monitor, cleared CMOS, changed graphics card for previous one (980) with a PCIE clip that would not release but finally got it, held power button, took out two of four RAM sticks and swapped them.

Seems like the motherboard is not working, I did have a full hard lockup a couple of days before while watching X-Files on channel 5 on Chrome, it just gave me a pink screen and high pitched noise.

Is there anything I've missed, as I said everything appears to get power, though the keyboard and mouse don't light up like they normally do and a have a noise from at least one of the secondary mechanical HDD's every couple of seconds like it's trying to spin up or something.

So I'm at a loss now, it's a MSI X99A Krait edition, got it here along with a 5930K in August.

Well I haven't taken it out of the case yet but I've unplugged everything but the graphics card which I tried in a lower slot and the fans for the CPU cooler, still no change.

Are you getting an error code on the little led display on the mobo? If so match it up to the LED error codes in your manual.

If not i would try just taking the bios battery out, uplug the powercable from the PSU and press your on button a few times just to drain all the power from the system. Leave the battery out for a few mins, this has brought several of my mobos back from the dead in the past. If it does bring it back from the dead i normally reflash my bios right away incase the bios has been corrupted.

Well that two digit led display in the top right of the motherboard has never lit up with anything since I had it, not for any reason even when booting normally so I don't know if that ever worked. As for any other LED'S the blue BIOS A is lit as normal, tried switching over to BIOS B with the physical switch by that LED but that just put it into a boot loop. I did try the pressing the power button a few times with cable unplugged trick but not with the battery out, will try that tomorrow night. The Clear CMOS button LED goes out if I press it, and that's about it.

It's been over 6 months since I had this motherboard and CPU, so I guessing I have to deal with MSI and maybe Intel to get a replacement?

Possibly the PSU? The fact you got the lockups before hand scream PSU issues to me. Could be the mobo but sounds more like something is up with your PSU, added is the fact your USB devices aren't getting power too.

^That

Although it did look like the GPU went and crapped all over itself from your initial information, considering the fact that you're also having problems with other components powering up it's more likely that the PSU has failed and it's that that needs to be replaced.

However, there is a chance that the failure of the PSU might have caused damage to one or more components along the way, so if a PSU change doesn't fix it then there is a possibility that the original PSU took out other components and you'll have to go through the whole diagnosis process to find out what is good and what isn't (and I've probably repeated myself in that sentence).

It's not the power supply, just tried different one from another PC in the house, exactly the same result. Unless anyone has any ideas I'm going to have to order another motherboard if I'm going to get this back up and running in reasonable time and if it's that see if MSI will replace it and then sell that. If it's the CPU I won't be happy, but then I'm not over the moon now. :(

Did ya try leaving the battery out for a while? Also i watched a vid from Jay recently and he had a PC stuck in boot loop, he just left it going for ages and eventually the bios reflashed itself, but like i said when ever ive had boot loop problems, leav ing the battery out always sorted it, then i reflashed the bios after.

Its very odd not getting error codes, i would check the manual to see if thats normal. I dunno if ya maybe have to close a jumper to turn it on by default or summat. Its always just been on by default on all the mobos ive had with a led screen.

I saw that vid a few days ago, the thing is that on the main BIOS it stays on but does nothing, only if I switch it to the second BIOS does it boot loop, I'll try the battery tomorrow but I doubt that will do anything better than what I've already tried, unless someone has a reason to think it's the CPU the fact that no power gets to the mouse and keyboard along with the boot loops on the secondary BIOS and the fact I only recently updated the BIOS makes me think it's the motherboard, but I'm no expert so will see.

Well the battery thing didn't work, I had a new different motherboard today, the Asus X99-A USB 3.1 and it still doesn't work, the error display works on this one unlike the MSI and it's showing me error 53 which is for RAM issues, turns out that the RAM is one letter away from being compatible with this board, just great, so new RAM now, thankfully DDR4 is a lot cheaper than it was last year, but still more money.

Trouble is that sometimes it's also giving me error 76 which is PCH DXE Initialisation (PCH module specific). Whatever that means but when I get that one the CPU LED is also lit up red.

So I'm screwed here, lots of money down the drain.

It turned out to be the CPU was dead after all, got a new one and PC has been working for the last few days, now sent dead CPU back to Intel today. Doubt I'll get a replacement but give it a go. If I do manage to get one then I may make a PC for the girlfriend as I have a spare GTX 980 as well or sell it.

if the cpu was dead Intel will replace it with a new one without questions if is in the warranty period.I had mine dying on me due to my mistake in tightening the d5 pump way too much and they replaced it in 1 week.
