Afternoon

Rebuilt my PC last night to put XP on it, something I have done lots of times before, but getting a weird problem.

Ran the set up and removed all partitions, created a new one, formatted the drive and installed XP.

When I boot now I get a message like:

Please choose which OS you would like to run:
Windows XP Professional
Windows XP Professional

If I click the top one, the PC boots no probs. Choosing the second one and I get a failure straight away, as it cant find anything.

No idea what I have done different this time to get this choice.

Anyway, is there any way that I can remove this choice screen and make it always choose option 1.

Thanks

nice one thanks.

if it does balls up, is there an easy way to put the boot.ini file back? or will windows no longer boot?

Do the following:

control panel > system > advanced tab > startup and recovery settings > untick the "time to display list of operating systems" option.

Dan.
