Hey All

Recently I just RMA'd and got a replacement graphics card a 6600GT which works fine now. But since putting the new card in my computer doesn't fully power down anymore, i'm sure it's completly unrelated but just thought to mention it.

I have a Gigabyte motherboard it's a GA-K8NF-9. Also have an AMD A64 3000+, 1Gb RAM, 2 hard drives and an optical drive.

If I shut down the computer in Windows and the only thing waiting is for the actual PC to power down. The fans are running normally and everything is going, also it doesn't respond to the power buttons being pressed no matter how long.

So anybody got any suggestions as to why?

k this is gonna sound totally un-technical but is just a corrupt driver for shutting down in the last instance, i remember reading an article about this problem but cannot remember the solution or where i read it too. But anyway i'm 99% sure its purely software related and nothing to do with your hardware. PC should turn off when you hold the power button for 3 seconds or so though... Dont know why yours isnt.

google away! :)

I had a system that would sit at the shutting down screen for several minutes due to a creative sound driver. Try uninstalling graphics card drivers and then installing the latest ones from the nvidia website.

Does it restart from windows or the bios? And can it be turned off using the pwoer button whilst in the bios?
