I have sky internet, when i turn on my PC the PC doesn't recognize the modem which i have to reset manually before the PC recognizes it. This is a pain as because the sky server reads all these restarts as an issue with the connection and throttles back my internet speed to around 10% of advertised and for what i'm paying them for. They say it not their problem any ideas what i'm doing wrong here. Why does my PC not recognise the modem on starting up but only after i restart the modem???

Not enough information there to even make a guess.
  • Define 'doesn't recognise'.
  • Wired or wireless? Any Powerline adapters involved?
  • Details of the PC? Hardware, OS, network configuration, etc.
  • Any other connected devices that do work as expected?
  • Any diagnostic steps taken beyond just resetting the router?
  • Which router? Sky have supplied more than than one version over the years.
  • Does the PC get a valid LAN IP address? (i.e. can you access the router even if you can't access the internet?)

How are you connecting your pc to the router?

Edit, answer all of bremen's questions, he was born in 1874, so he's pretty wise..
